Minister of State for Sport and Tourism, and former resident of Raffles, Helen Grant visited the work of Community Reach on the 18th March. It was a delight to show the Minister around the work we do as well as the area which she said had changed significantly since she lived here as a young girl. Of the work we do the Minister stated that there was a lot of deprivation on the Raffles Estate when she was a little girl growing up in the 1960’s and 1970’s. She went on to say
‘Clearly there is still need and vulnerability here today but the work that Barrie and his team are doing is absolutely fantastic. They are genuinely helping people and, as their name suggests, they are reaching out to the community. They are giving people hope and aspirations’.
As well as being an MP, Helen heads up a solicitor’s practice specialising in Family Law and Domestic Abuse cases.
